What is Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA)?
Iron-deficiency anemia (IDA)²⁻³ is the most prevalent micronutrient deficiency affecting infants, pregnant and lactating women and even elderly males in the country. Commonly, this is due to poor iron intake (such as vegan diet) or heavy periods. There are sometimes no signs or symptoms when experiencing mild or moderate (IDA)²⁻³ however, a more severe form may cause weakness, fatigue, difficulty in concentrating, insomnia or brittle hair and nails.
3 in 10 pregnant women in the Philippines are anemic.4
During pregnancy, women need to produce more blood to support their growing baby. However, a lack of iron or certain other nutrients, means the body may not be able to produce the amount of red blood cells it needs to make the additional blood, causing Iron Deficiency Anemia. Common symptoms include fatigue, breathlessness and poor concentration in anemic mothers.4

Multivitamins + Iron
for PREGNANT
WOMEN
Multivitamins + Iron (Iberet® Folic – 500) supports your pregnancy in the following ways:

Did you know 50% of anemia cases are due to Iron Deficiency?
- Menstrual disorders account for 5%–10% of women experiencing iron deficiency anemia (IDA)8
- Female athletes are at a higher risk for IDA. They lose more iron due to heavy sweating as well as increased blood loss in the urine and GI tract. Add to that monthly blood loss during menses.9
- Young professionals facing high stress, irregular hours and an improper diet are also prone to IDA.10
- Vegetarian and vegan diets often do not include enough iron-rich foods, such as meat and fish. 11
- Following low-calorie diets or skipping meals could mean you aren’t meeting your daily required intake of iron.11
